Had a 997 CS with PASM suspension. Thought it lacked feel and feedback. Like Chris Harris in Autocar I couldn't fall in love with my 997....not intimate enough for me...car lacked soul.......I have to admit to liking the rawer 911's and tended to want it to feel like the RS's I have had. Then I drove a 'sports suspension' car with mechanical ltd slip diff.
WOW. What a difference. Turn in was sharper and entire drive was more involving. Harder ride yes, but bearable unlike 'sports' PASM mode. Now this was a real Porsche with proper feel and driver feedback.
I ended up swopping the cars and am totally smitten.
The roads I use are traditional British country lanes that are very twiddly, undulate and have changing cambers . They tend not to be fast perfect dual carriageways or motorways where the use of the steering wheel is limited. If these are the roads you use then you would probably not 'feel' the difference.
But it is food for thought for potential purchasers, especially those used to Lotus, TVR, Evo's and Scoobie Snacks where the feedback is so good and there first 997 experience may feel 'dull' in comparison.
