coolant pipes inbetween the V top of engine have a habit of letting go;
£1300 from OPC to fix
centre cardon shaft bearing can wear, giving transmission whine & vibration
If it's got air suspension
make sure it works at all levels
compressors can get tired & quite expensive to replace
Coil packs go
'handbrake' can stick on, giving rise to a lovely boing sound.
rear washer jet pipe comes adrift - floods rear side panels, where lots of nice sensitive electronics live...
Check for even tyre wear
I've owned my Cayenne since October and it still puts a smile on my face everyday.....
I searched all over the country for the "right" one, and eventually bought it from an owner in Surrey, and I'm from Glasgow....[]
Good luck in your search, and it might also be worthwhile having a look on http://forums.rennlist.com/ as the Forum there is a lot busier than here.....
I went to Gleneagles last weekend golfing. My brother also went in his diesel passat CC.
Fuel,
CC = £38
Porker = £115
He followed me so both driving the same. Cruise set at 79mph, does not set off speed camera's at that speed.

Other thing to watch out for when buying privately is that all the electrics are working properly. David rightly points out that the rear washer pipe can pop out, as mine did, and caused some corrosion on the rear numberplate light holder, but fixed under warranty.
I've had two of these babies, the Gen 1 and the facelift versions and they are true workhorses and fun to drive too. Do your homework and you won't be disappointed.
Oh, and Kevin's car would be worth checking out...

Hi what about tyre width, I'm looking at a 2007 GTS with 21 inch tyres! Advantages/disadvantages in daily use? I presume replacing the tyres in due course will be expensive also.
With regards to the standard GTS 21" tyres, they are summer use only unlike the smaller rims that have all season tyres fitted to them.

Not aware of any problems with the 21" combo - I've 20"on mine and ride is fine. Also have 19" with winter tyres - also comfortable but a bit noisier due to the tread type.
Tyres are expensive - no question! Though it definitely pays to shop around.
Just double checked the 21" combo, indeed summer tyres fitted only.
Other sizes come in either M+S, or Summer but there there are no Porsche approved winter (M+S) offering for the 21" rim.
Exactly, get a set of spare wheels off ebay (19" preferably) fit with winter tyres and you're set for the winter. Helps with the life of the summer tyres too. I've got three seasons out of my winters and two out of the summers. Averaging about 18k a year.ORIGINAL: Nick_USA
