Buying a Cayenne - what should I look for? Please Help.

Hi there

I'm changing the 'weekday' car and I've been so pleased with the 911 that I want to go for a Cayenne.

Probably (based on my budget) a 2008/2009 model.

I don't know Cayenne's at all - so I wonder if people could please let me know

1) What spec to look for

2) Any issues I should look for

I was going to read through the posts here - but there aren't any before June - I guess an upgrade?

Thanks for help.

Hi,
I think there are earlier threads on this subject you may want to look at, however, I would suggest only look at the V8 and air suspension is a must. Also, wheels larger than standard 18" look better. Plus FSH of course! Its all down to budget after that so the more spec the better!

Good look[:)]

I acquired a 4.5S Tiptronic at the beginning of June and it's brilliant as a family mover, fast and exquisitley comfortable. My spec:
Air,
Bose,
Cruise,
Pan Roof
Xenons
20" wheels
Full PMDSH
Front & Rear park

Only downside, the 18 - 22 mpg, £900 insurance with £700 excess, but I kind of expected that!

From what I can gather the points to look out for are plastic manifolds in earlier versions and core pack problems. The later a relatively inexpensive fix, the former around £1k, but otherwise well put together and fairly reliable, just need to save for the 20k service intervals, especially if you stick with PMD...

Thanks guys

Going for a smoker (diesel) as its a daily run around but found one with air suspension, Bose, pan roof, full psh and warranty on 20" wheels

Seeing it next week

That's good that you found a diesel with air and pan roof, both expensive options. Certainly noticed the difference in number of visits to the filling station compared with the V8 - but miss that lovely rumble [:)]

Keep us up with news on this one.
