Have you discounted this one? Lower mileage and slightly cheaper. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201219470239683/sort/default/usedcars/price-to/17000/engine-size-cars/2-6l_to_2-9l/model/cayman/make/porsche/onesearchad/used/postcode/ha52qy/page/1/radius/1500?logcode=p Enjoy!

I have been looking for a very low mileage 2.7 with 20k on the clock. One has come up with 35k and a price of £16000
Seems good deal?
Anything to worry about?

Well, went to see the car yesterday, car was in drive and owners did not come to the door. Just as well, literally walked around the car once and left. What a wreck! Kind of put me off tbh. Front and bonnet was covered in stone chips, expected one or two but it was peppered! Worst still was the sides in front of the rear wheels which were also peppered. And that's not to mention the other scratches and paint bubbles on the wheels. Didn't look inside by wife said it was filthy and the seats were marked. I know not everyone is as picky as me but this was a disgrace! Worry is though, at 35000 miles there were so many stone chips. Surely the paint isn't that soft? My thirteen year old Boxster had nothing down the sides and only a few on the front edit forgot to add i checked and it needed a major service plus new tyres

Cars which have been traded several times do have less stone chips since OPC's and some others do have the front halves resprayed, so a good point if it's had several owners. One owner cars tend to have not been sprayed and so are more likely to have chips. Interiors are a good indicator of how well they are cared for and of course the servicing being up to date etc. Buying private you may well feel the need to have some chips tended to and maybe a bonnet respray, price seems to be about £800 for a front end last I saw on here. Also, the 2.7 was only announced about a year after the 3.4 S and was not so sort after when new so you do have a lesser number to select from.

It amazes me that folk can buy such an expensive item as a Porsche, and then treat it with all the care of a garden spade. My 6 year old 2.7 has done 50,000 miles, has just a few minor stone chips and the interior still looks like the day it left the factory. It's not rocket science to look after a car. Chin up ... you'll find a better one, and it will be worth the wait.

Never thought of that one. However got offered a car yesterday on a 57 plate that already had 5 owners at 24000 mls and it kinda put me off.

When I bought mine it had one owner and 2,200 on the clock, £10K cheaper than new, must admit that it did make me think "What's wrong?" but then I've known people who bought something they'd dreamed of having ( such as a series 1 Land Rover!) and found it wasn't as they thought. But condition was as you'd expect as new, spec spot on apart from the paint colour as I would have chosen white. However, I got used to the Atlas Grey. It has got a few stone chips thanks to several councils doing poor road maintenance and at almost 50,000 miles the interior is still as new. A good thing about not buying new is that you get to test drive the actual car. Plus, you'll enjoy the right car for a lot less cash.

Sounds like you need to consider upping your budget. When we sell we want top dollar, when we buy we want a bargain. Your research suggests you get what you pay for. Whatever you decide, go ahead, and you won't regret it. A few extra pounds (money, not weight) and when you drive it you'll wonder why you hesitated. D

i am weary of trade price and resale so am not trying to get a bargain but be reasonable just offered 16.5K on a 2006/56 2.7 with 18000 miles where trade is 14k which i think is reasonable. plus it had 4 owners
