Buying advice C4S

I am looking to buy a manual 996 C4S and wonder if there are any particular mechanical/performance/finish quality issues that I should be aware of? I am looking at cars from 2002 through to early 2005.

Any comments that you can provide to help ensure I get the best car for my money would be very gratefully received.

Thanks.

Andrew!!

There is a buyer's check list here which you might find useful: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/fb.asp?m=269468

Only advice is to get a check done by OPC or an Indy.
Money well spent could save you a lot of money and heart ache.
Things to look for are Rear Main oil seal (RMS) and front rads.
But a Check is best advice.
996 C4S are fantastic cars.

Welcome!

Check the inside edges of the brake disks for corrosion, front radiators for damage/corrosion (collect leaves and debris), check aircon, check for oil leaks (rear main seal) on underside of engine...

Best thing to do is to get a PPI done (OPC or independant) - Personally I would also pay £120 and get the cylinders checked out for compression and an internal visual inspection with an endoscope camera.

If all the above checks out you will have a great car!

I've had mine for 4 years now and has now got 26000miles on the clock faults i've had are main light switch, n/s radiator, & battery replaced. Try to buy a car with full service histoy more the better. Pick what opptions you would like to have on the car eg sat nav, tel, sport seats, aero kit, etc etc Then take your time and the right car will turn up good luck
