Buying Advice Help Pls !!

Hi,

I am currently a proud owner of a 993 but will be shortly in a position to upgrade so to speak. I have considered leaving Porsche [:(] and going for a Ferrari 348 but not sure if this was a good idea after reading about. My other option was to go for a 993 Turbo but they are just so rare can't even find one to test drive or even view. So help is req'd as usual I'm afraid any comments or anyone been in a similar position?? Anyone close to me with a turbo that would let me have a look or a ride?? I will pay for the petrol[:D]. Advice or opinion's would be good before I do something I might regret!!!

NO NO NO NO NO PETE!! Worst Red Car ever made!!! rebodied 308 bad reputation 355 is the boy if you are going red or 550 Maranello cheap as chips........as an everyday Porsche driver buy a 996Turbo....
 
Dont do it, the maintenance will crucify you as there is no low cost maintenace items!

I have a 993 Turbo absolutely no reason why you cant use as a daily driver, you know that heavy clutch you have ! mines assisted! Turbo's are generally very reliable (unless abused) as they are so over engineered. You are welcome to have a go in mine if you are over this way.
I will probably be over MK way beginning of next month and usually drive it over due to the 'fun drive'.

For some reason Turbo's seem to come in batches and go for anything between £30k(LHD) and £70k(<20k) and there is a collection of 10 over on Pistonheads.

Oh and the difference between 993 Turbo and 996 Turbo is that the latter is still depreciating

I have always wanted the 993TT but I guess I was just fishing around in case there was something different worth having but truth be known that's not the case. Thanks for the offer and advice I may take you up on it sometime.

That does it then 993TT it is now where's my cheque book[:D]

Just out of interest what colour is your TT??

polar silver, extra clean looking as its zymoled. posted some pictures the other week in the 993 Turbo register when I added the wheels

ps dont forget same car as you have now but 40%+ more power, wider body? and luxury interior and possibly 4 wheel drive depending on your existing model and there is a full range for sale on Pistonheads(if I'm allowed to mention)
 
I thought about selling my 993 turbo recently, but after thinking about it carefully, couldn`t think what I would want to replace it with, so have decided to keep it. In terms of build quality, reliability, performance, economy and low depreciation, there is nothing to match it in my opinion. The 996 turbo is a great car, but they already have their problems and are more complex, so there will be much more to go wrong as they get older. The 993 turbo has been around almost 12 yrs and well looked after examples don`t seem to have any major issues as yet. They didn`t make many compared to 996 models so will always be rarer and more difficult to get hold of.

To get a nice one you do have to be patient and be prepared to travel and see a few, I looked at 7 - 8 and it was 6 months before I found the car I wanted.

Don't let possible higher parts and servicing costs put you off. Considering the spec of these cars, my beastie has given me an easy ride.
