Buying advice please

I'm tentatively looking to buy a Cayenne GTS, 2008/09 era.
What are the weak points on these cars? Is the PDCC reliable? Gearbox/torque converter?
 
GTS Best sounding cayenne ever produced 2009 being the run out year for the original shape Cayenne means they are likely to be fully loaded with options.
I recall I was offered a Black GTS in 2008 that had been cancelled after it arrived at Norwich OPC as the Customers business had folded. I drove the dealership demo and was sorely tempted but all that black paint and future swirls put me off. I later went on to buy a 2009 run out Turbo S Cayenne. It was a beast but had no bark like the GTS a spell of level headedness saw me sell it for a non descript RRS with better fuel consumption and poor tyres.
A few years on and what the heck I have a month old Cayenne S V8 Diesel, bags of power, v8 rumble and near 40 to the gallon.
Biggest tip I can give make sure you buy one with air suspension and if possible PDCC it will just corner flat and take off and stop level.
My avatar is the Turbo S engine complete with carbon fibre covers no other Porsche has an engine that pretty (well they might have but they will be covered up in the back of a 911)

I'v had my 2008 red GTS for 2 years now with 83000 miles on the clock and loving it.
They are big, thirsty, beautiful and when pushed got a v8 roar that is unbelievable.
The engine shouldn't give any problems if it's been looked after. It's big and well able for a load of work.
Check the rear hatch around the number plate for corrosion ( I had to replace mine but Porsche body warranty covered most of the cost) My car had a gap in its servicing and body work checks so they wouldn't cover all the cost.
Also if you go through puddles or deep surface water it is possible to blast off the small piece of body trim at the bottom of the passenger front wing (£70) so it may be advisable to take it off and glue it on. It's only held on with 4 poppers I'm on my second one. It will be glued.
Go for it and enjoy the thrill of driving this amazing, luxurious, sporty SUV

Paul, isn't PDCC just a fancy way of saying air suspension?

There are 3 Options often confused with each other

Porsche adaptive Suspension Management (PASM) - Option 1BH gives "Electronic damping control system with choice of three manually selectable setup modes: '?Comfort?', ?'SPORT'? and? 'SPORT PLUS'?"

Air suspension with self-levelling, ride-height control AND Porsche Active Suspension Management - option 1BK gives "Fully load-bearing air-spring struts offering a total of six ride-height settings and option of lowering rear axle to Loading Level. PASM active damping system applies continuously variable damper rates to minimise body movement. Choice of three manually selectable damping modes (?'Comfort'?, ?'SPORT'? and ?'SPORT PLUS'?). Includes self-levelling"

Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) - option 0AW gives "Active anti-roll system offering reduced body movement when cornering and therefore increased agility, performance and comfort" . PDCC Needs option 1BK to be spec'd

I'm familiar with air suspension and PASM (although PASM on my Boxster is either auto or sport) but hadn't understood the finer points of PDCC.
 
I learned something as well, thanks gdavison. I had PDCC on my Turbo S which was fine until i loaded up my winter tyres on smaller rims in the wet on roundabouts usually and I'd get a snap rear breakaway before the safety stuff cut in and sorted it out. I don't have it on the new Cayenne but I do have the air and PASM and that combo is excellent.

Well what a beast! It's nicely spec' with air suspension and PASM although no PDCC but that seems to be rare and would have been icing on the cake.

Amazing handling and performance for such a barge, happy days :)
