Buying Help Please

Hello,

Would some be kind enough to give me there opinion on this car and the asking price:

1984 PORSCHE 944, A reg.
116000 miles, finished in sports yellow with black Porsche logo interior, 5-speed transmisson, electric windows, electric sunroof, electric boot release, radio cassette, telephone dial alloys, oval dashboard, S2 spec, drives well, total service history, long MoT, £3,495.

I feel that it is over priced for the year but I am not sure as I am a first time buyer in the porsche world so any help would be great as I find it to be such a minefield & I thought buying my first mobile phone was stressful![:D]

Thanks[:)]

I could be wrong (but don't think so) yellow is not a 944 colour therefore resprayed (perhaps) Would not be an oval dash??? What is the s2 spec. bit. Maybe someone has done a bit of work on this car. Any pics?

It sounds an unusual car to be sure. That is top whack for the very first year of 944 Lux so needs to be mint condition.

If it has an S2 engine, S2 suspension, brakes and wheels along with the oval dash conversion then it 'might' be worth that figure. I would check all the numbers (chassis and engine) and do a Full HPI check on the car. It could be a very good buy if all that work has been done properly. On the other hand.........

I didn't think '84 cars had electric boot releases either.

Check the chassis number. An '84 car should read something like

*WP0ZZZ94ZEN111111*

EN is 84 build year
FN is 85 build year
GN is 86 etc. etc.

Also check for battery location - 85 onwards the battery moved to the boot.
85+ cars were oval dash.
The windscreen mounting was also changed on 85+ cars. The later cars had flush fitting screens.

ORIGINAL: Alpine

i would have thought that a 944 in yellow would look awful !

They actually look really good in yellow IMO.

Back on topic, rearrange the following to make a well-known phrase or saying: barge a touch with it wouldn't pole I.

How can it have a "total service history" if it's made up of lots of bits of newer cars? Buy a proper one.

There is a 944NA running round Edinburgh in very very good condition in Lemon Yellow. Looks horrible in that particular shade. Maybe in Lotus Esprit 'Norfolk Mustard' it would look better.

I have an 88 Lux in guards red, 110K FSH, excellent condition, looking for £4K if you are interested???

I have an 89 2.7 Lux Alpine White 116000 FSH, also in excellent condition Blue/white pinstripe £4300
(see post RE: Anyone have a 944 for sale? - note price amended to be more realistic.)
