Buying new alloys

Phil,

You don't mention your car's year of manufacture but my 19" 987.2 Cayman wheels are manufactured by BBS.

If you want an original Porsche wheel, someone like Design 911UK may be able to help. If not, I'm sure that there are many other suppliers.

You may also want to check with your PC. They often have offers on wheel/winter tyre sets at this time of the year.

Jeff

Toying with the idea of getting a set of winter tyres/wheels but looking for some advice.
Porsche website don't seem to list or sell alloys, even in the spares section. Haven't called my OPC but assuming they are going to be eye-wateringly expensive.

What are the alternatives? eBay lists a lot of used/new wheels but the prices vary & how can I be sure they are genuine? Any markings or coding on the alloy which will alloy me to tell.

Thoughts welcome...

Hi Jeff. Thanks for the advice & apologise for not specifying the info.

It's a 987.2 Cayman, 19". I'd prefer genuine wheels. Open to any other suggestions, will consider used... just want to avoid 'used' wheels which are not genuine.

Porsche OEM wheels will have a shield and part number inside one of the spokes like this..

hi you will find them on the Porsche website under service & accessories then equipment accessories

If interested I have a set of Genuine Porsche Alloys and Winter Tyres for sale that came with our Boxster 981 (2014)

They were available as an extra at point of purchase. The wheels are made by Ronal and have Porsche Part numbers on them.

Supplied fitted with Dunlop M&S Winter tyres which have made one journey to Austria so Tread depts are all between 6.8mm & 7mm

These are the 'Real Deal' and a Genuine Porsche part. I have put them on Ebay here:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/372108942636?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

Hi alfietom

Can I just check how much you want for them?

Also, I have a Cayman S with 20inch wheels. Silly question, but would these fit? Thinking about the calipers?!

Cheers

PJ

Hi PJ,

Price wise £700......They cost close to £3,000 from Porsche.

Size wise I couldnt be certain but I wouldnt have thought much would have changed caliper size from a 4 year old Boxster S to a 718 Cayman.

What are the size of the 20" tyres your running at the moment? ie, 265 40 20

Cheers

Simon

Thanks Simon

I have a 981 Cayman S, so I'm expecting there wouldn't be an issue, but obviously wanted to check. Standard sizes on 20s, so guessing 265 40 20.

Where abouts are you based?

If it's helpful I have a set of 19" winter tyres that are never used and happy to part with at a very low price.

I also have a set of decent condition 18" Cayman S wheels with Pilot Sport 2 tyres which are for sale, again at a low price.

Iam looking at changing my wheels , I currently have 19” lobster claw wheels on my 987.1 . Happy to sell them if I can replace them with alternatives for the same money . As far as I know there are originals .
