Hi advice needed please,

im in the market for a used cayenne 3.2. Have about 16 - 17k to spend. My problem is i used to have an X5 outside of warranty which went wrong and cost me mega bucks! Is there anything i can do to safegaurd against this? I have been trying to find one with a porsche extended warranty on however not many about. Can i purchase an apporved warranty from porsche if the existing warranty has already lapsed? and if so any idea of the cost etc.

I really love these cars and always wanted one but the idea of the gearbox packing up and costing ££££'s puts me off a little.

Any advice would be appreciated,

Thanks,

u can buy an extended warranty but will first need the car to be inspected by a main dealer at a cost of circa £200. the warranty situation on porkas has just been changed and is a real sore point amoungst members at the moment as u will discover if u read the threads as the costs have been hiked substancially and every year the car has to be inspected. a recent suggestion is to buy a warranty with a 3rd party.....good luck

Proper warranty on the car if buying 2nd hand is prob worth having as you dont know the car, I made a concisous decision to drop the warranty and use a Ferrari/Porsche specialist when my 2 yrs were up - so far liking the involved and personal service. I am sure i will have big bills - they are expensive cars, eg full set brake discs and pads cost me <> £1300... after 30kmiles which is good going by all accounts. Plus do you know about the tyres? £800ish a set and you can - even on the v6 - finish them in 10k miles owing to uneven wear - fronts on the edges and rears in the middle. On my second set I had them rotated and got 20k. I plan on keeping my car so think highs will balance the lows if that is possible!
