Bye All

John Miles

New member
Just a note to say bye to all on this Forum as I won't be renewing my PCGB membership at the end of the month. Voting with my feet on the appalling behaviour of the club directors / board members over the last year, specifically regarding the expulsion of Jeff Maynard.
Yes, I know there has been a change of board members but I am not prepared to be associated with a club with such a reputation / track record.
The 964 is still going strong and you can always find me at www.porsche964.co.uk
Bye and thanks for all your support of the last 10 years,
John

John,

Know how you feel, hope you drop by Rennlist every now and again.

Kindest regards

Kevin.

Hi John
I am new to PCGB in last few months, so don't understand the politics.
Can you PM me with some idea of what the issue is. Don't want to stir things up on-line but always keen to know what is going on.
PS - We once spoke on phone as I was buying my 964, I think it was a contact through ecademy.

John

Agree with your comments and sntiments and would add the waste of the clubs funds on a solicitor was deplorable.

Hi John, I sincerely thank you for all of the help and assistance that you gave the 964 Register, during my 10 year tenure as Register Secretary.
We so much appreciated your IT skills. Your website Porsche964, is still one of the most Internationally Recognised Authoritative sites for owners of Series 964 cars.
We had many good times together, especially the 964 Devon Weekends which you so ably organised; who else would allow thirty Porsches to line up in his back garden.
John like you I have found it time to move on.
We are hoping that during the summer a number of the Old 964 Gang will meet up again; hopefully you will be able to join us.
Very best wishes,

john .
i too will be no longer a member after my curent subscription runs out . but i hope non members can work out a way to still be involved with this forum ???
(if only to pass-on details of a more viable option ) ;)
many thanks for your 964 enthusiam .............. it certainly helped me pull through during the hard times of my 964 restoration/modification .

John.. we met at the Eynsham Hall 'do' last year. (We have the Velvet Red 964). We had a long chat about the cars and their quirks and it was great to talk to someone with so much enthusiasm and knowledge of their car.

Like a previous poster, I am not aware of all the politics of the club but from the little I have garnered, nothing much seems to have changed since I first joined the club in the early 80's... and then left a few years afterwards. A club within a club? Like the other chap, I'd love to know more.

why ????
all you need to know is that a person previosly dedicated to PCGB and still dedicated to the marque of porsche , in particular the 964 , has decided to relinquish his ties to "THE ORGANISATION" .
NUFF SED !!!!

Why do I want to know? Because I think it's important that members are allowed to know about what is going on in their club. I don't think that's too unreasonable.

I rejoined PCGB a couple of years ago hoping that the politics and hidden agendas had disappeared. From what many folks here have said and are still saying - there is still 'trouble at mill'.

'Sorry' if wanting to be an involved member upsets you! Nuff said? [;)]

John I have known you throughout my 964 life of over ten years, and enjoyed your contributions, help and enthusiasm. However if the JM issue is the final straw, I would say it's a bit Toys out of the Pram reaction. This is esenntially a great "Members Club" and as a member of nearly 30 years have and will continue to derive much much much more pleasure than pain. It's inevitable that as one of the largest Car Clubs (which is now a business) there will be moments of possibly incorrect decisions from above (not saying that's happend) I think rough with the very mainly smooth and enjoyment should be taken into account......Anyway all the best and hope to meet you at events soon...[:)]

hey colin ,
cant believe i typed NUFF SED !!!!
must be the kingfisher beer gone strait to my head that night !! :)
dont mean to start an argument , sorry if you took it that way .
maybe you should pm john , as the politics you where hoping had disappeared obviously haven't and if you feel you want to get involved with them , maybe there is less chance of libel if its not public ?

John sad to hear this and I hope you will still be active with the 964's. Your 964 website is a great thing and I hope it will continue!

It will be interesting to see the way the Club develops - quite a lot of change going on - so perhaps one day you will return.

Will give you a call sometime and have a chat.

Hope to meet up later in the year JM for a glass or two. Was nearly beheaded in the 964 cab on Thursday by a nutter biker who hit the side at +/-140kmh, so may be over at the Silverstone Classic in something else. 968 have a celebration, so may be time to bring the CS over.
Best of luck surviving without PCGB.....I'll be going the same way next renewal.
Let me know when you fancy a trip over to Luxembourg.

Jon

... I'm quite proud to a member of a club which did not get bullied around and walked all over by legal threats from an individual!

THX911 you obviously know something that those of us who attended the Workers Conference the day after Maynard was expelled failed to grasp... and we were given the 'official' version of events, that it was 'nothing to do with copyright issues' with no other explanation being offered.

Jeff was an active member of Region 19 and a member of the board as well as being a good friend of John. To this day none of our region members know exactly why he was expelled and I have been asked by many for an explanation. So please state the facts and stand by them or back off with accusations of bullying.

John has been an extremely active member of the club, always ready and willing to offer his time and energy in organising events. John, good luck mate and keep in touch.
