Bye Bye S2 Cab

After 4 years ownership of my S2 cab, I have now parted it for something ...

a bit smaller
a bit lighter (800 kg)
a much smaller engine (700cc turbocharged)
a bit less bhp and torque (101 bhp, 96lb ft)
a much better mpg (53 mpg combined)
a bit less fast (0-60 9.6s, max 122 mph)
even more fun on bends

You may have already guessed what it is ...
No. It is not a Boxster.
No. It is not a Elise.

Yes. It is a Smart Roadster Brabus. Mine one is exactly the same colour and look.

It has been a great fun owning the S2 cab and sharing info with you all here. Hope you all have a continuous happy ownership of your beloved 944.

Always liked the look of those Brabus Roadsters and the mini 911 sound of the 3 pot engine!

Could have (should have) been the spiritual successor to the old Ausin Healey Sprite/MG Midget?

Have fun with your new toy!

Enjoy your new wheels Charles, hope the cab has found a good home and hopefully its new owner will find their way here soon.

Yes the Brabus Roadster has improved gear change. The roadster comes with SVT auto box and also manual gear change via shift and wheel paddles.

I have a solid aluminum strut brace (by Dynatech US) in very good condition which I imported it for my S2 cab (and I don't think they make it anymore). It costs me £300+ (incl shipping and tax) two years ago and I will list it on ebay after new year. If anyone here is interested please PM me and give me an offer (it will also come with new 8x washers). This strut brace is much better quality than any of thos you can find here in UK in the specialist shops.

How interesting, I didnt know they were an auto?

Is it an auto change sequential type gearbox or a hydraulic slush box?

Water leaks and electrical glitches were problems my friend encountered with the Brabus, still great fun to drive[:)]

TBH, owning a 20 yeras old S2 did drive me a bit mad and leaks and glitches were quite common.

Yes, the Brabus Roadster is a real fun to drive if 0-60 time is not that important which I assume most of the 924/944 owners are.
