Hi fellas,I just got a C-tek XS 7000 charger, and I want to connect directly onto the battery without disconecting it from the car. The instuctions say to connect positive to positive and minus to the cars chassis.
On my dads 8 series BMW he has somewhere to attach the negative in the engine bay, but last night I couldent see anywhere to attach the negative from the charger in the front of my 993. In the end I had to disconnect the battery and charge it up the convensional way, with + to +, and - to -. I shouldent have to do this with the C-tek,
so it would be a great help if anyone has a sugestion to where I connect the minus to in the front of a 993.
Thankyou chaps.[;)]

Can't you just connect the -ve to the -ve terminal on the battery? That's what I've been doing for the last four years. The -ve terminal only connects to the chassis through a simple cable anyway so it's the same thing.

I connected mine directly to the battery - I don't see any reason why the negative has to go on the chassis.

This was what I did to begin with last night but nothing seemed to be happening on the charger, regarding lights and charging progress etc etc. But maybe I didnt give it enough of a chance, or making sure it was connected properly.
I will try again later chaps, thanks for the quick reply's.

The C-Tek should come with a lead that you can attach permanently to the terminals of the battery. The other end of the lead has a connector. You just run the lead up through the carpet and leave the connector poking out. The lead from the CTEK just plugs into this connector whenever you wan to charge the battery.

I know the one, i will tinker with it later.
Thankyou.

If the battery clamps have enough thread protruding on bolts, you can fit the terminals on and then add an extra m8 or m6 nut. This will avoid disconnecting the battery.

Hi,
Had one of these for a year, very good, connect via the lead direct to the battery either by extra nuts and washers or undo the terminal nuts and connect that way.
Switch on the charging light should come on (mines orange) once up to charge the green one comes on.
Mines been on all over winter no problems, just switches from orange to green as and when.

This business of connecting the -terminal to the body has more to do with either jump leads or conventional battery chargers to avoid the risk of explosion from sparks igniting hydrogen gas as you connect + 1st,then the -.,or disconnect etc.For a hard wired connection, the actual plug connection is then remoteso low risk.
