C16 Versus C98

I'm currently looking at a C98 996TT (i.e. RHD, but imported from southern europe when it was new).

It has a OPC warranty, and has had all services done by OPCs in this country. 2001 MY

It seems the seller did not know this was in fact a C98 as opposed to a C16. Could anyone advise on what the impact of being a C98 is on values? Glasses has this car at £46K trade, but what would be for a C16. What would the hit be? Initial idea is around £3K.
BTW, car has a decent spec which is above the standard c16 model.

I think C98 is Cyprus.

It means that the car was an unofficial import and there may be some detail spec differences. You'll need to check on the V5 whether it was declared new or used at the time of importation.

The biggest issue would be the lack of support you might get from PCGB in the event of any problems arising. They probably wouldn't want to know because the car wasn't imported by them.

However, as it is now nearing 5 years old this should be less of an issue and the significance of a non-C16 car tends to diminish with age.

What difference does it make to values? Well, at the time, this car may well have been cheaper than a similar UK example and that discount should follow the car for a few years. It may not worry some people, but I would expect to pay 10% less for it.

if it has an opc warranty, the car may have brought up to uk spec, eg bigger battery. ask this question as this would be useful for you to know.
