Is it supposed to appear on your white sticker under the bonnet?

It's not on mine..

Mine does not have C16 on it either. I think it is made up from the optional eqipment.

Mine starts with the VIN
Model no / description 986 321

Engine/transmission
Paint and interior

Then options. If interested mine are:-

XRL 139 197 239 288
340 424 441 476 490
502 551 567571 573
584 601 659 689 695
946

Could play the game of spot the number to option [:)]

Not sure that a Boxster would be that different to a 996:

So mine is
Chassis number: WP0ZZZ99......
Model no and model decsription:996 431 (which is 996 C4S rhd)
Engine number: M9603....
Paint code & interior trim: L6B4 EX (which is seal grey and metropole blue)

Then the options (first one is):
C16 XLF XSC X70 265
266 288 342 425 440
567 601 665 666 670
09991

This was a UK car, ordered through OPC Guildford, built to order and definitely via Porsche GB (since it was sorted, PDI'd and tracker'd at Reading).
C16 is UK spec.

Guys, Stuart is exactly right after speaking to Peter Morgan, pre-inspection guru and editor of 911 and Porsche world at length on this exact topic you should find a C16 option code on any UK spec car as described in the post above.... however this does not mean that the car was imported.

The only way to tell if the car was an imported C16 or not is to look at the supplied by dealer stamp in the service book, which will either be a bona fide UK OPC or a european OPC. Cars supplied via South Africa or New Zealand etc will have a completely different option code as they would have never been RHD build for UK intent e.g. New Zealand has a C21 option code from memory.

But in answer to the first thread you should find the option code in the inside of the bonnet on the white sticker, my car was orginally supplied by Chapelgate Dorset and has a C16 option code and I have independently confirmed with the dealer that this is the case

Well could your Guru explain why my car, ordered from Lovetts in Bristol in April 1999 and delivered to the same place in May 2000 does not have C16 listed in the option codes?

Last time I went there Bristol was still in the UK!

There's a lot of different opinions about the C16 code - doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. I read somewhere (and I wish I could remember where) that not having the C16 code doesn't necessarily mean the car isn't UK spec, intended for the UK market.

So what is the first option on yours then John, mine being XRL, what does that mean?

Mine is 'apparently' a personal import i was told when i bought it, it has C16 on the sticker, im sure that even if it is an import and has been speced as a UK car it will still show as C16, although........ this has been talked about on boxanet and some have stickers showing C16 and some dont......... just to add to the confusion [:D]

John

No offence intended [:)], yep Bristol defintely UK last time I looked [:D]. If i'm ever speaking to him about a buying another porsche I will be sure to ask! Would be nice to have a definitive answer though I might ask chapelgate when they call tomorrow just out of interest.

If I get a straight answer i'll post a reply

None taken - I'm just curious as to why a 'kosher' UK car doesn't have C16 listed on its option sticker.

Moreover somewhat embarassed as someone asked me about it last week and I said "Yep it's on the sticker". I like to double check these thing and did - and of course no C16!
