C2 Exhaust Manifold

Does anyone know the difference between an exhaust manifold for a manual and tiptronic. Mine is starting to blow and the bolts are corroding. I have seen stainless steel ones on ebay but they say they do not fit a tiptronic. Is there a big difference?
John

That's what I thought Richard.
I am not too technical on these engines but I wouldn't have thought the gearbox type would have made any difference to the exhaust.
Just that I have seen a couple for around £100 the pair including all gaskets/bolts etc.

I saw those earlier today. They do seem particularly good value, but you will only find out what the quality is like until you get them.

Is it worth buying Richard, or is there a possibility it may not fit. There is another one which looks like has longer tails and they also state that does not fit tiptronic

John

I think I would give them a call and ask why it doesn't fit a Tiptronic. The PET shows different manifolds for 3.4 and 3.6 engines, but no difference in either of them for manual and Tip. Obviously the profile of the eBay manifolds is different, to get more equal length branches, so maybe they foul something on a Tip, but I can't imagine what.

I thought they were the same too TBH.

With a little finishing round the inlets those are alright.
I think there good value.

P.s Good luck with your bolts.

I plus gas mine every once in a while to try to keep the rust at bay.

Do you really think I'm going to do them myself with the luck I've had in the past? My local indie is doing them along with my wheel alignment.
I've looked at every picture I can find on t'internet for 996 manifolds and still can't see there is a difference between manual and tiptronic though.

Just to try to firm up whether there different, Not only can you not see a difference in pictures but apart from the eBay ad I have never seen anywhere else selling headers for the 996 marked as Tip or manual only?.

Anyone?.

One of the ads says halfway down that does not fit triptronic but the other says nowt.
I emailed the seller and they say does not fit tip but can't say why - I would have to contact my local garage.
Similar ad for same from Italy who, when contacted, said that theirs would fit tiptronic
All seems a bit strange to me as should fit either as Richard said earlier.
Is there an indie out there who can tell the difference as these seem too cheap to miss out
John

I think they have just pasted the advert for the rear boxes and modified it without taking out the manual/tip notes.

We list 3 different makes of headers, all fit both manuals and tips as well as both 3.4 & 3.6 cars

They are soooooo cheap!!

And what a handy shop you are just round the corner from me and on my way home from work too!.

How convenient is that.

Nice shop.
