C2 x51 3.8 engine query

Hi - newbie on here...

i have a 3.8 carrera 2 and i am wanting some rsr exhausts.

seen that 3.8rs boxes are different than standard 3.6 ones? whats the difference - as my car is a bit of a 'mish mash' due to the factory fitted upgrade how do i know if the exhaust was upgraded? as far as i'm aware the x51 was capacity, bigger valves, rs cams and possibly throttle body? - no mention if exhausts though.

cheers

marc

if possible if anyone has a full list of items changed for th x51 that would be great

I tried a set of RSR on my 3.8 RS.....the boxes that arrived fitted fine and made a great noise...on a rolling road the car was down a few negligible bhp....On comparison, the RSR boxes fitted were from a a 3.6...the RS has a slightly wider inlet /exit pipe to the box. the fittings are the same , but if you look at the two, the 3.8 pipe remains a constant guage, where as the 3.6 narrows. I kept my originals as i was reluctant to let them go back in exchange. If you want the sound, the best thing to do would be send your existing boxes for conversion.

cheers for that - dont know if i can wait for them to get done and sent back as car is daily transport - think plod may pull me over minus the boxes ;-)

doubt i'll notice the couple of gee gees.
