Would be interested to hear from anyone with experience of C2S v C2 on handling front. Had my C2S for 3+ months now and still very much smitten. That said, this is my first Porsche "" in fact the only Porsche I have driven, as I targeted S cars only when looking "" so I have little to compare with in wider stable. I ask as I recently bought several back issues of GT Purely Porsche which contained C2S buyer's guide articles and was a little surprised to read the model got somewhat of a slating on the relative handling front. I must say it did ring somewhat true to me on the particular tram-lining criticism which my car definitely has a big tendency to do on less that perfect roads ( ie most) and more worryingly at higher speeds on fast A roads. I can certainly live with it but find you certainly need to stay attentive and be ready of quick corrections. The harsh ride comment "" I actually like the feel. Anyone out there had both and can comment?

The wider track of the 'S' means you will feel a difference in ride - and there are BIG differencs between the 2 and 4 'S's - that said - I've always thought the C2S was undeserving of it's rep for poor ride - stiffer, yes, and it requires a subtley different driving style.
That said, you have a beautiful car in the C2S - people slated the 993 GT2 when it came out - now it receives the reverence of a holy shrine!
C4S's are a little easier to drive - the extra 'bite' on the turn in from the front diff makes the driving experience 'easier' - but for sheer throttle steer, the C2S wins, IMHO, every time.

Have you had the suspension alignment checked?
993's are pretty sensitive to correct alignment - I would get this checked to confirm that the handling characteristics you describe are normal - I have never heard of a 993's handling described as "worrying"

Sadly, you might have read one of the first GTPP articles/ They did a subsequent one in which the outcome was rather different, if I remember correctly.
I have a C2S on 17". I don't experience tramlining, but the car certainly does communicate the state of the road surface to you quite efficiently! You will find that, as Pete says, chassis alignment plays a massive part in how the car drives. Many people are of the opinion you need only bother about alignment settings if you track the car, when in reality they are pinnacle for road manners too.

Just taking up on the point of alignment. I recently had my 993 aligned as it was experiencing some "interesting" handling characteristics. Frighteningly many of the settings were a long way out - in fact both the toe-in for the front and rear were in the wrong direction. Quite how the settings could be so far out I don't know.
After realignment the car is more stable and handles more predictably. Those frightening moments when the car appeared to have a mind of its own have been banished. Probably the best £140+VAT I have spent on the car.

I was in a similar situation until Robin at 9M worked his magic. When he examined it, I had the interesting setting of both wheels pointing in opposite directions! Two hours later and the car was an altogether different beast. I use the car on track so I'm aiming to have the alignment checked every year, because it does seem prone to 'slippage', lets say........

Thanks for feedack guys. I'm Kent/Sevenoaks based. Any suggestions on good/best outfits to take my car for a full allignment check.
I am fairly near, probably the best place is Parr at crawley...they did a great job nuetralising my previous 993.
