C3NAT/F411GNT 911 Carrera Sport, Do You Know This Car?????

Hi Guys and Girls

I am not having much luck in the Porsche stakes at the moment!!

Did you trade this car in with Chartoak Motors in Wilmslow?

If so, can you please contact me as a matter of urgency via e-mail from my profile.

I had a full AA inspection done and it showed some minor faults, but it appears now, less than 2,000 miles later that the crank bearings have gone and my mechanic says that it should have been up on the pre-purchase inspection!!!! I am preparing a case against the AA, as I bought the car on the strength of the AA inspection which cost me £280.00!! If I had known, I would have walked away breathing a huge sigh of relief. But now I find myself with a car that is scrap as the parts alone will cost £6,500 and then there is labour on top.

There is no comeback on Chartoak Motors as they have on all paperwork "sold as seen", which I would expect from any used dealership. I bought a warranty for this car, but it only covers £300, which is hardly going to scratch the surface.

Has anyone got any experience of taking on the AA? If so, can you also please contact me through my profile.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Regards

I have a 'friend' in the trade - Sold As Seen is bo...x try 'fit for purpose.' 2000 miles and less than two months later is NOT acceptable.

Have you chased up the previous owners?

For a small fee you can ask the DVLA for the full registration history of the car which will give you the names and addresses of all the previous owners. I then called directory enquires and got their numbers. Those who were ex directory I wrote to. In your case maybe you could even visit if there not in the phone book. I also rang many of the places that serviced/repaired the car. Some of them had records for the car that I didnt have. This gave me more names and leads to follow.

I did this on my 89 3.2 (just out of curiosity) and despite having had 6 previous owners I managed to find and talk to 4 of them. It's worth a go.

Maybe the last owner knew of problems when he sold it to the garage. Maybe the garage knew and knocked him down on the price. If they did then you would have something to work with.

Cheers

I spoke too soon!!

Just bought nearly £1100 worth of parts today!!!! [:(]

My friendly mechanic says I have been really hard on the car over the last 12 months since he last worked on it!!!

But hell, its worth it!!! Honestly Mr Bank Manager, honest!...........

Hi Guys and Girls

Just to let you know that I have spoken with Trading Standards and they have told me that the AA is not obliged to let me have anything other than a full refund and anything else that they give will be at their discretion.

Secondly, the Sale Of Goods Act states that if the goods are not of merchantable quality, then I have full recourse against the delaership, as they are duty bound to make sure that nothing like this happens. They are liable to either pay for the repair, replace with a comparable vehicle, or reasonable partial refund, as I have had the car for a couple of months.

I feel that I am embarking on a lengthy battle, but once I have the stuff through the post from the trading standards people, I will keep you all informed.

The TS people are talking bull.

The AA have a duty of care that extends beyond the mere refund of their fee (case law). Even if their standard contract says otherwise (Unfair Contract Terms Act 0r something like that).

Go against the garage and the AA - it won't cost you any more to issue a writ against them both. Use the County Court, small claims track. Check out www.courtservice.gov.uk (I think).

The advice you had from another member about sending a few clear and firm letters is correct. Give the defendants enough time to 'fess up and pony up, and if no joy, in for the kill.

On what you have said., it sounds a fair cop.
