My last 10 months of 996 ownership has been very dissapointing, but I can not hang on to it and pour into the money pot !!

Its the worse 911 I have ever owned, and I am not sure whether I would buy another 996.

I am sure there are many happy owners, but the build quality and other issues are very poor from PORSCHE IMHO.

Have traded it in for a BOXSTER 'S' and whilst these have RMS issues to, I have a full 12 month warranty and will look at 911 ownership later next year.

If you don't mind me saying that seems an odd thing to do - you're unhappy with a 996 so you get a Boxster?

Mark,

Sorry to learn that you were disappointed with your C4, perhaps it was a duff one. We've had Porsches for 20 years and always been very pleased with them (infact held on to two of the earlier ones). Had two 996s and they have both been outstanding, although our current 3.6 is noticeably better than the 3.4 in several key areas.

Also had three Boxsters (current 'S' for four years) and, as I have said many times, £ for £ the Boxster 'S' is the best Porsche you can buy. I drive both the 996 and Boxster regularly and I don't consider that one is better than the other. In some respects they are very similar, in others they are quite different.

Tim,

Not a problem asking. The 996 C4 requires a few thousand pound to fix and it does not justify it my eyes, just a bad feeling about the car.

The BOXSTER 'S' has a full 12 month warrenty and I will get a few £K back on the deal.

As I have owned a BOXSTER plus before, I just wanted some peace of mind for a year before I make my mind up.

I have been driving PORSCHES since 1987 and this 996 is the worst I have ever owned.
