C4 - second time around

All,
The final outcome of the PSM/ABS warning lights saga is now settled - yesterday I agreed terms with another OPC to buy an '03 Guards Red C4 to replace the ailing '01 variant. This car has black interior, Sports Design wheels, memory seats, sunroof and last, but by no means least, the switchable sports exhaust. It all seems a good package and I look forward to picking it up in a couple of days. Lets hope this restores my faith in the marque.
Regards
Dave

Is it??? What happened???? Or have you left it for the OPC to sort out?????

Hope your new one is OK - Guards Red - good on you.....

Perhaps I should qualify the sorted......as I understand it the problem has not been fixed - they have now fitted a new master cylinder (thinking was that this was holding pressure and confusing the sensors), servo and various other sensors - the last I heard was that the latest thinking is that it might be a wiring fault but so far they cannot trace the problem.
As for Guards Red - I fully intend keeping the car for some time, thus I'm not concerned about the knock-on residual effects and although it is not deriguer to have solid colours I think it makes it somewhat special - probably a mid-life crisis as my first new Porsche was a Guards Red 944 in 1985 and I want to return to those carefree days!! I did stop short of a 1000 mile old Guards Red C4 with full GT3 bodykit as I thought it was pretending to be something it was not - it looked stunning and of course its all down to personal preference but thought it would send out the wrong kind of messages to my colleagues and clients.
For those interested here is my choice:

Looks absolutely fabulous.

Guards Red is superb on narrow bodies without kit; ott on wide bodies I think

IMHO If I was buying a silver Porsche I would have a very wide choice to look at so the competion amongst sellers would be pretty intense.

The average Porsche buyer is a pretty discerning person with particular wants so there will always be people who want a Guards Red or other 'unpopular' colours. They will come to you with a different mindset. Less likely to be timewasters as well...

When I bought my car I had been looking for ages with a pretty specific wish list.... When it finally appeared I had only seen one other with the required wish list so my heart went ahead and bought it before I had even seen it!!!!

I would love a guards red or speed yellow GT3.... Any rich widows out there???

Congratulations Dave, looks like a nice car & the advantage of Guards Red (if it's nicely polished) is everybody will think it's a Ferrari !!

Was your 01 C4 a facelift car, or are you not only getting a newer car but also an upgrade to all the facelift goodies (extra power etc etc) as well ?

Well guys thanks for the comments - all I can say is I'm rather pleased now that I had the problems with the first car! which is still not sorted and looking very forlorn at the dealer's workshop - I had to go and collect a few things that were left in the car (and of course my cheque!) and it was sitting in the corner with a lot of interior trim pieces on the floor and all the covers off in the luggage compartment - the guys there still seem as baffled as they were on day one.
As for the new car - its just great - (and my wife thinks its OK) - my first C4 was not a face lift car so I am now enjoying the benefits of more power and the other tweeks - as I only drove the first one for just about 300 miles its hard to really compare, however this one seems very sure footed and with the colour and sports exhaust, a bit of a head turner! I drove a friend to Cambridge on Saturday to pick up his new BMW - he had come with me to get the C4 and now is looking for a Guards Red Boxter - so I think I've claimed another Porsche convert - however driving the C4 up and back was a real blast!!
All things being equal I will keep this car for a long time and it has nearly all the extras I would have gone for had I been ordering one from new.
Regards
Dave

Including the (queue fanfare of trumpets) all new CUPHOLDERS !

I hope you enjoy the beast, particularly the facelifts extra mid range/in gear grunt, bet it sound's simply great at the top end, with that sports exhaust.
