I am getting 13.5 miles to the gallon after 1000 miles!

Is anyone else doing much better?

Anyone had an ecu upgrade-is it worth it?

Hi, I am getting about 21 after 850 miles. About what I expected. Have you put the fuel cap back on?????

After a brilliant trans euro bash of 3000 miles i managed 22.8!

Must be the in London Driving!

What octane fuel are you guys using? My OPC said to only use 98 octane. Which works out about £6.00 a tank more expensive than 95 octane.

I asked this question of my instructor on the Porsche Driving Experience and he categorically reccomended the high octane stuff as it ; makes tickover smoother, makes the pause that you get around 3500rpm as the variocam shifts less noticeable and finally the engine develops a few more bhp. He also said that you need to use at least two tankfuls to use up any residue of the lower octane before the engine management resets itself to the higher rating.
I have switched over and tend to agree with the analysis. I guess a few extra quid is worth it compared with the other costs of Porsche ownership!!

If you are running the right Petrol, Optimax etc It might be worth reseting the ECU by taking the power lead off the battery, leaving for 10mins and then connecting back on.

On the 996 thread a number of people say how much better the car goes.

Perhaps your 997 will benefit from this.
