C4S Exhaust System

I have recently upgraded from a 1998 3.4 to a 2003 C4S. I am really pleased with the car, in my opinion the overall quality of the facelift cars is much better than the earlier ones. The additional torque is very noticeable which makes it an even better drive.
To my disappointment the car does not have a sports exhaust (about the only extra it is not fitted with) but on start up from cold the exhust note is quite raspy, almost like a sports exhaust. However, as soon as the system gets warm the note subsides to a lower level. Has anyone else experienced this or could it indicate a fault? Appreciate any feedback.

I never really noticed this with mine pre PSE. However, if there is a fault with yours and you need any parts I have my previous standard exhaust system with only 10k miles use - for which you are welcome to make an offer?

What you describe is normal, probably as a result of the cold start function, which raises the initial idle speed.

But, IMO, there really is no alternative to the PSE - the 'must have' option on the 996.

Time to get your cheque book out[&:]
