Hi all

Does anyone know of any car hire places (preferably in the midlands) that hire out Porsche 996 C4S coupes (not convertible). I'd like to try one out for a day or so to see if its the car for me.

thanks

http://www.elliottscars.co.uk

never used them but their website says they have 27 911s so with a bit of luck, one of them would be a C4S. might be a very expensive way of getting a test drive though...

I think 27 is the age you need to be to hire one, not the amount of 911's they have to hire.

Do you always get your deposit back after hiring a car this way? Anyone with experience?

The deposit is just in case you crash it, so as long as you don't plan on driving into a lampost you get your money back. Normally when hiring vans etc the deposit is refunded witihn several working days after you return the vehicle.

Hi,

I would have to say, not that I am biased in any way, a C4S will definately be for you!!!

I would check out your local OPC and see what they have. I spent 12 months looking for my 911 ended up going to my OPC and bought her. No pressure sales and plenty of test drive time.

I am pretty sure its the car that I want but not sure my budget will stretch to get one. Originally I planned to get a standard 996C2 with about £20k budget in mind. Then I read some reviews and decided the facelift model was worth paying a bit extra for so was looking for an early facelift C2. Then I saw the C4 and it ticked all the boxes. After reading some reviews from EVO in particular they seem to reckon that the C4S is the best of the 996 range. But its down to budget and whether I can get one for the right sort of money. Ideally I'd be looking for a C4S in seal grey with anything up to around 60k miles on the clock. What's the cheapest you think I could get one?

ORIGINAL: Diesel130 It looks like £31,486 is the number ...if you want seal greay and < 60,000

Martin, that looks like a very suspicious ad:
- 2 different coloured cars in the photos neither of which are seal grey as stated in the ad;
- mileage difference; and
- the price differs between the detail and the title, the latter being extremely low for a '53 plate.

That's because it is £31494 on their/Autotrader web site: http://www.exoticar.eu/, where the "Seal Blue" one is £36896. Go figure.....
