C4s rear bumper vents

That's freaky I took mine of yesterday took about 40 mins. You can't get to them when it's on. I was surprised to see that mine were plastic welded in areas perhaps mine had the same problem with its previous owner. There's 12 screws 4 under the spoiler lid a metal strip they hold on.two up at the point underneath each wheel arch 2 under each vent Either side and two underneath just inside the exhaust tips then it will pull away good to ask for another pair of hands. Be are of wiring loom when pulling away lay the bumper on floor and pull wiring plug apart. Getting mine sprayed for 250.00 . Get new screws from design 911 there will be diagram to order the right one

Are you sure it is the vents that are rattling?

They are plastic and are plastic welded in position to the PU bumper.

Right behind those vents are the silencers and they can develop a rattle when the internal welds fail on the pipes between the baffles!

Either way it is a bumper off job, not hard but top tip take the rear lights out before you start, they are easily damaged if left in place and very expensive to replace.

Full how to on the Pelican Parts website: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Porsche-996-Turbo/05-BODY-Rear_Bumper_Removal/05-BODY-Rear_Bumper_Removal.htm

Takes about 15-25 minutes to take the bumper off, same again to refit.

Great thanks for the help guys, interesting picture! Yes I need my sprayed as well due to one of my dogs trying to launch themselves at a fly via the bumper, needless to say said dog now has no claws! The vents rattle when you touch them, the PU welds must have come loose, can they just be re stuck? high performance glue??

Thanks

Yes they could just be bonded back in place.

If they are already loose then take them off, clean them up, spray they and then bond them back in place.

They are right next to the heat shields for the rear silencers so will get hot so bear that in mind when choosing a suitable adhesive.

Best of luck
