C4S v Turbo standard wheels

I am looking to change from a 2003 C4S to a Turbo from the same year. The latter has some after market wheels that I am not keen on, so I wonder if I could negotiate to keep my existing wheels. Standard Turbo wheels look to be the same to me as the C4S ones apart from the centre caps which I could presumably change at a later date?

Hi. The Turbo wheel and the C4S wheels look the same, however the Turbo wheel are actually different, as the spokes are hollow and therefore the wheels are lighter.

The centre caps can be changed as they are plastic and many owners change them for crested items in any case.

I am not sure if the weight difference between the two would make any real difference on day to day use.

Should you put the C4S wheel on the Turbo, unless you are having the car inspected by a proffessional, you could not tell them apart (when the wheels are off the car you can see that the spokes are rounded on the turbo.

I thought the 4S wheels were hollow as well? If you are correct and they aren't I certainly wouldn't put them on the turbo, doesn't sound good for balance.

You can tell the difference from the outside - hollow-spokes have metal valves.

Early Turbos were fitted with solid spokes as standard, and hoolow spokes were an option. My Turbo came with solids, and I bought a set of hollows for it. I couldn't tell any difference between the two. I think hollows became standard in 2002.

Thanks Richard.

I am looking at a silver car which has the new Fuchs wheels on it. All a matter of taste but being mostly black they are a bit loud for me, so I would prefer to keep my C4S wheels. Based on Richard's experience I will see if I can negotiate to keep my existing wheels.

they're not, they look the same from the outside but the inner face reveals all as per Richards post

Ooops indeed.....[;)]

It takes a brave person to challenge Richard's knowledge...... I know who I'd believe......[:D][:D]

I Know, Richard is like the Oracle in this place. To be honest I didn't even see the very detailed post complet with pics and descriptions explaining which wheel is which. Must learn to read threads properly [;)]
