Has to be the 4S on depreciation grounds alone. If and when that targa roof gives problems the repair bills could be significant. Not sure that the 4S did get upgraded brakes. No doubt someone will confirm.

A 996 C4S is a heavier (and hence slower) version of the C4 but with a turbo body, upgraded brakes and some better standard toys. Is that a fair summary?
Currently trying to decide between similarly priced and condition targa and c4s.

Yes, the C4S got the Turbo brakes. I know the 993 Targa roofs can be an absolute nightmare when they go wrong, but I don't know about the 996 Targa. Also bear in mind that it is heavier than thee C2 coupe, and the centre of gravity is higher.

But that's true of any major component on a 911: if it goes wrong it'll be expensive to fix. But how likely is it that the targa roof would go wrong?ORIGINAL: Geoff997 If and when that targa roof gives problems the repair bills could be significant.
$64,000 question. Comments based upon stories heard about 993 Targa's. There could be a 4S available here? http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=477508&mpage=1&key=񴥄But how likely is it that the targa roof would go wrong?
The 996 Targa has the narrowbody of the Carrera 2/4/GT3. The C4S and Turbo/GT2 were widebodies.
I have just talked to another owner of a Targa who has owned it for over a year now. He is very pleased with it and has had no issues with the roof mechanism. So my earlier fears may be unfounded.

^^^ might not be a statistically valid sample size though ;-)ORIGINAL: Geoff997 I have just talked to another owner of a Targa who has owned it for over a year now. He is very pleased with it and has had no issues with the roof mechanism. So my earlier fears may be unfounded.
