cab or Lux?

I have owned my lovely 944 Lux for 4 years now and pampered it in many ways, servicing cleaning, repairs etc.
My mind has been leaning towards a 944 cab and I have seen one advertised with good history and clean etc.
What should I do...do I keep the one I have(lots of attachment to it)or take the plunge(loan and all) for the cab?
I would love both but wouldnt get away with it :D

Lo m8ee, I'm well known for my dislike of cabs but that of course is purely personal so irelevent. As for 'upgrading' , only you know if its worth it but I would say in these current times even if youre job or business is as secure as can be I would still think very carefully before taking out a loan for what is after all a hobby car , or any car to be honest.

I am going without a Porsche for a few months now purely because I dont like having any loans and am banking wads in to a car fund each month. I could buy one now but am happy to maybe see out the winter without one stuck in a garage most of the time.

If you have a lovely Lux and still appreciate it , then youll probably do what I almost always do. Lust after a better maybe even flashier car , spend the money get bored with that one and think why did I not just stick with what I had. I STILL regret selling my very old original Zermatt turbo and replacing it with what was clearly a better example.

I know this is all down to opinion and horses for courses but you did ask and it's a good question in my opinion [;)]

Cheers

Mas

Keep the one you've got attached to. Or buy both. I still regret selling my, near perfect 993. Nothing else has come close to it - not just from a mechanical perspective, but from all the things I did in it whilst my children were still young. It was an emotional tug to sell it. Damn the house extension fund!!! []

I've got one of each at the moment but I'm selling the Lux. It's probably a subjective personal thing but driving the Cab with the top down day or night is a bigger buzz for me than driving the Lux. The downside is the Cab is more expensive to fix.

Hello well I just bought a 944 cab for my wifes 40th. I was just looking though the posts here to start learning these things..

My wife has always had cabs until the family baby car came along Audi A4 and her lust for a cab was just driving me up the wall.. So I just bought her a 1992 944 Cab S2 silver with blue. I know the coupe would be a nicer car but it's not a cab and she is a girl. She already had Mazda MX5's she she wants abit bigger as little man can get in the back of the 944. I did look at a 911sc and although it was top of the budget it needed some work and that is not what I am looking for at the mo.. The 944's seemed to represent good alround value and esp the cabs

I have been watching the prices of these cars over the last 5-6years and I can't see them getting much cheaper to be honest. OK OK there will be some sruffy cars about but any good ones I can see holding out at the value they are at and I can't see Cabs getting much cheaper.. That does not mean buy them now as they will be 3 times the price in a few years. No I just think if you buy one then your picking the cream of the crop and hold on to a nice one.. I may consider parting an air cooled Porker in favour of a 944 S2 coupe if I can find a nice burgandy one with cream interior. I have collected one of two over the years ops [&:]

Anyway Hi as a new 944 ( well my wife , no it will be my car when it goes wrong but hers when it's going well [8|] ) owner and going to look though your posts..to learn stuff.

Haven't seen many replies from cab owners, so as somebody who has never owned any other Porsche I'm probably just a little biased. Have owned mine for two and a half years and is the fourth soft top I've had, the first two being when I was young free and single (yep I've got a good, and long, memory) the third being a TR8 immediately before I got wise and bought the 944 cab. Like many cab owners I'm sure the roof is just there for stopping the the birds from messing up the interior when its parked. It should ALWAYS be driven with the hood down, after all what's the point of having one if you don't. Driving it on a bright sunny day in January wrapped up in a warm jacket and the heater on full blast is just as much enjoyment as it was this Bank Holiday week-end in the warm sunshine. Remember a cab is not just for "summer" it's an all year round enjoyment.
If you do decide to join the select few I'm sure you won't regret it.[:)][:)]

I have & had 3 other cabs 44s2's. I like the summer feel & the outdoors , they are a simply fantastic motor to drive. The 1st i had in the mid 90's only 3 year old, i sold it with much regret to pay the morgage arrears & soring intrest. The next came along as i ached for another, even after AMG's & red cars ! I then went to N.Zealand & phoned home, as i met the chik mof my dreams , with a lazy life style there, (so i thought) so then that was sold on my behalf . I returned to Uk, after realising how far away from reality i was [:D] I looked for 3 years for another 44s2 cab, after looking at cut /shut, multi coloured pannels, i found my next mistress. My aches were gone , the buz back , & I was offered silly money for her, by a passer by, i had 3 other cars & thoight what the heck. 2 weeks later i was pining & going pale [:(] I had to get her back, now i have her ,she aint going no place. I have had some nice cars, super performance, i dont realy know what its is about the 44s2 cab, the handling, the wind, the responce, or that sexy god dang body, but for sure this is a keeper. garaged & going no place [:)]
