It looks as though i may need to replace the rear screen of my cab in the not too distant future, did anyone progress on the glass option?
Any info on the best way to do this and any costs really appreciated thanks

I guess you mean the GAHH one: http://www.gahh.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_57_3525_339_2991&products_id=1575.

It seems that the problem with it is that you lose a lot of the window height compared with the plastic one. There are a couple of opinions here:

I expect that they have to lose the height so that it can be fitted to the mechanism and still give it space to close.

Hope this isn't repeating what you already know.......

I have one of the BAS ones on my Boxster - very happy with it [:)]

Fit and finish is excellent - it looks like a Porsche original part.

thanks chaps. i had hoped only to replace the window and not the whole top but it looks like that might not be an option

Can you tell me anything more about the BAS one please?

Cheers

Not a lot more than was on their website. The roof and screen are a complete unit. The screen alone cannot be fitted to your existing roof. It's a heated glass rear screen which fits into the wiring loom for the hardtop. The screen is smaller than the plastic one to allow the roof to fold (the roof on "facelift" cars is a completely different design and will not fit a pre-facelift car). Drop them an email and I'm sure they'll be happy to give you more details.

Edited for clarity.

thanks for the reply unfortunately it looks as though its not an option as mine is a pre facelift car! Back to the drawing board.

Maybe I have misunderstood you Julie, but the BAS one IS for pre-facelift cars.

I think that John meant that BAS have to fit the whole top covering, complete with glass screen - they can't just fit the glass screen by itself to your existing covering.

Sorry. Richard is correct. The BAS roof is purely for the pre-facelift cars. You must replace the entire roof, not just the window.

oops i think i must have misread it, if it is for pre facelift cars then its back as an option.

How do you go about getting it fitted?

Give them a call - they will probably be able to recommend someone near you to fit it, or you can do it yourself [:D]
