Cab roof cleaning - any advice?

Morning !

I have posted this on the concourse forum but in knowing how good our 944 forum is I thought I might get some help here especially from the Cab guys.

My cab roof needs a clean - it is water tight, no cuts etc but in some areas it is a little grey and where I have used polish on the car there are small traces of white resudue on the roof. The roof also feels quite dusty but it never sees the rain!

I have read many articles on the pro's and cons of various roof cleaners and to be honest most of them have put me off even trying.

Does anyone have and good practical roof cleaning advice?

Many thanks in advance,

Frazer

Hi
First use vacuum cleaner going with the grain to get rid of dust etc. I have used Autoglym cleaning kit in past and works well. If you can get hold of the Jaguar kit ( some sold on ebay) this is good (also BMW cleaner is good).Apply cleaner and use soft brush (supplied with Jag kit) and brush with grain. Wash off well with water only.If hood faded i have used Renovo hood restrorer to put colur back in. Easy to use but make sure you apply evenly otherwise you mayget tide marks. If not needed apply reproofer with brush. In the Jag kit they give you cloth to wipe over.Do not do this it leaves white bits on roof. i apply and when nearly dry wipe my hand over surface.I have had good resuilts for years like this. I used to recoat the wifes Z3 early spring (just done daughter has it now) and before winteras car stands out all year. Allways looked good. Have retreated the Speedster but not needed to re-colour yet

Geoff
If you need to treat the plastic window go to BMW dealer the cleaner they sell is excellent for removing scratches and film. Comes in tube like toothpaste

I used the autoglym roof cleaning kit a while ago when I owned an escort cabriolet. The roof was totally discoloured where it had been sat under a tree before I bought it and it brought it up perfectly. That was a mohair hood rather than the vinyl ones.

Definitely recommend that, not particularly cheap but certainly did the job for me [:)]
