Cabin like an oven

On a recent epic drive the car performed pleasingly but for the fact the cabin heats up almost unbearably. If you close all the dash vents warm air just seems to rise from the footwells. Also the hot/cold control on the heater doesn't seem to make a blind bit of difference, could this be a common fault with the mechanism or some valve?

Car is a 924S with no aircon. Any help much appreciated.

I'm not sure if the 924S heating system works differently to our 944s but here goes. The 944 has two rods behind and to the right of the glovebox, held together by a plastic clip. When this clip breaks the heater flap falls open permanently and cannot be closed hence you get constant heat. On a 944 you simply take out the glovebox liner and replace the clip which costs pennies from Porsche.

If this is no help then ask the same question in the 924 section

It is the same - fail-safe hot for cold winters!
It's also the same in 'Take the glove box light fuse out BEFORE you remove the glovebox!!!'

You WILL blow the fuse - it's mandatory. ;-)
