Cabin temperature sensor

Hi all, has anyone got a step by step guide on changing the cabin temperature sensor? Thanks, John

Bear in mind the illustrations are for LHD.

Pull off the cover plug (20). Undo the 3 torx screws (21) - one is hidden in the recess where you pulled out the plug.

Gently pull the vent from the dash to reveal the sensor (24). Squeeze the clips together as shown in the bottom illustration, and the sensor will come out from the back. Unplug the connector (23), and you are done.

Thanks so much Richard. I'm not certain it is broken but the climate control blows cool air when it still feels cold in the cabin and temperature is set fairly high (23°). I assume its either covered in dust / fluff and therefore falsely reading cabin temperature or faulty; which is unlikely as you say. But as I was placing an order for other parts I thought I may as well buy one for the sake of £25 and I can return if not needed.

Thanks again,
John.

Mine does the same starts off blowing warm but even if the temps set 20/23 the air doesn't feel that warm After a while

Apparently they do get caked in fluff which effects them bac but simply need a good hoover to clean. I bought one just in case but will try cleaning thoroughly first.

We have replaced them to good effect when the climate control only works on the Hi or Lo extremes. Quite straight forward to replace, especially with the above diagram to hand.
If you have a pre02 model year, you may be able to interrogate the value by using the climate control hack.

Thanks Lee. I'll give it a go and come back to you all if I need any more guidance. Cheers, John.

Hi, the cover pulls off with relatively little force. It's held in place by several plastic tabs. Good luck.

I took mine apart yesterday evening and was easy with Richard's guide above. It wasn't dusty in terms of fluff, but had a thin coating of caked on dust. I used a wide artist's paint brush to clean. I really don't think the Hoover would've shifted it. Reassembly was slightly more fiddly as the mechanical arm that opens a closes the heater vent easily pops out if you're not gentle. I tested it and seems to work fine but will need to take for a longer run to figure out if sorted. I hope yours was a success.

Cheers, John.
