Cabrio roof checking / adjustment

Hi,

Anyone have any suggestions on the hood alignment process, checking cables, odd-sounding motors etc....

I'm sure it's a 'standard item' during a service that an indie garage could read up on / turn his hand to,
but I hoped to find a specialist who'd be more familiar with the process, doing hoods on a more regular basis

So thinking going to a Boxter specialist rather than 993 might be an idea??
RSJ @ Slough?

any thnoughts?
Thanks,
T

What exactly is your problm? My roof actually failed in the open position. The inner cable birds nested. There is a procedure on the p-car website which gives good info on how to replace the cables. http://p-car.com/diy/cabtop/

The main components of the roof are the mechanical lifters, drive cables and the motor. It is a simple system but correct rigging is important. If rigging is slightly out between left and right lifters the roof can become very noisy due to one side having more torque on it than the other which will eventually cause drive cable failure. It is very time consuming to set the roof up as really there is no rigging procedure. The one in P-car is about the best you will get. it took ages to get mine right adjusting the drive cables one by one to ensure the roof was being lifted equally by the two mechanical lifters.
There are two micro switches on the drivers side lifter which control the operation of the drive motor.
Cheers
