Guys

A fun time brainstormer for you..who can guess without researching in technical cd roms/manuals what activates roll over protection on 911/Boxster system?

A 996 Register logo windscreen sticker for the winner...wow wee eh!

I would say it uses the accelerometers that are part of the PSM system.
However, I am not sure if PSM was an option on the cabriolets. If it was an option, then it can't be part of PSM since for safety reasons it has to work on all the cars.

Guys

All wrong answers so far...excluding Boxster comment, I assumed they incorporated ROP..however keep guessing and sticking to 996 cabriolets, remember it is the device which causes activation I am looking for you to guess, I was astonished but on reflection realised the simple format is quite clever indeed.

PS I 'll make it 2 Register stickers for the correct answer!

A cable attached to the bottom of the suspension ?? surely not that simple...

I don't know,[] but I'm aware the car doesn't have to be leaning over, off the ground is sufficient, which is why on the Porsche experience at Millbrook you have to be careful on the hump during the Alpine curves section.. If the car leaves the ground then the Roll over activates..

You are correct they are very sensitive, airing on the side of safety, keep guessing for the simple activation idea/part..I am having replacement in a few days as of suspected faulty unit.

Switch on the top of the suspension, so that when there is no weight it hits the stop and triggers the switch?

Almost there Fred!
On that linr but not quite on the level..a clue!

Good luck

911 gas service FAE (fast and expensive!)

Fred

You are now 100% correct..well done indeed!
A simple but effective system of monitoring ROP.
