18th Oct Porsche Club track day if you wish to drive then please fill in the booking form in your P Post & send of asap. But if you are just interested in watching again why not turn up & have a nice day out.
I shall be there as its on my door step.

I will be attending but either as a spectator or if anyone wants private tuition. I did offer tuition for free on the day but none of my letters to PCGB Motorsport warrented a reply. Not the ideal way to befreind newer members! I'm not very impressed.

I hope to be driving, but why is your first post a whinge? How about introducing yourself to us? I'm not impressed....... [;)] -PCGB Motorsport have their own trusted, tame instructors... but are notoriously poor at replying to letters and e-mails.....[] Oh, and welcome to the Club!![:)]

I will be there and I really hope there will be plenty of 'takers'. I have been urging the club to come back to Cadwell for years and at last not only are we back but with the significant advantages of having the full circuit to play with rather than the previous shortened version and also an early autumn rather than late autumn date which should improve the prospects of decent weather. Cadwell is a lovely circuit and very satisfying to learn. I find it to be technical circuit rather than a frightening one as some would suggest. Any potential first-timers will find that PCGB track days are a great place to start with good on-track manners and plenty of helpful advice from both instructors an fellow drivers alike. Give it a go! Ian

I shall be there but as a spectator this time as Im not permitted to drive at the moment due to vertigo. It is a good track to drive as I have done it in the past. It can be quite challenging in places.

Thanks Melv, I did not intend to make my first post a whinge, I was just a little frustrated as to a lack of response. Thanks to your prompt about poor reply to e mail, I have contacted Steve; who had read my e mails. I will be in attendance at Cadwell with a view to being an instructoron the day. About me...Current 993 owner, previously had a 911SC. Just retired from 31 years in the RAF, the last 7 years with the Red Arrows. Started off rallying in club events, but decided I wanted to be in charge of my own destiny. Raced semi-proffesionally for the RAFMSA for 15 years, racing Special Saloons but mostly single seaters. I have raced in about 300 races at Cadwell Park eventually becoming Champion of Cadwell in Formula Ford series, Won BRSCC open Wheel championship. Driven various Cars including ex-James Hunt Hesketh F1 car. Have been teaching as a privateer since my retirement and I am listed track instructor with Ecurie25(Leeds) the supercar membership company. I have also done some development work with small sports car companies, developing the handling and brakes of new road cars. I hope that gives you some kind of introduction, I now look forward to meeting you at Cadwell on the 18th.

B*gger the racing, let's talk about the Sparrows!![:D] Cheque in't post to HQ today......

I'll keep an eye out on the weather for this event - I'd certainly take up the offer of some instruction. I'm keeping the 8th free as well (Snetterton).

Thanks for the interest guys. I have offered my services to Steve, eventually by telephone. He was waiting to see how much interest there was and how many were going to attend. I have offered my assistance to the club, trying to give something back to the club and also to develop some word of mouth recommendation for future events. I am unsure of the charging policy of PCGB For Private track days, I only charge at fuel cost and passenger fee + £10/car-driver. I do this for the love of the sport and to give others some of the benefit I have had from this excellent circuit. Plus I only live 30 minutes away, so fuel costs are only 3 Gallons. I have now retired (very very early) so time and availability is never an issue, just a days notice to get school run organised. Regardless of what happens on the 18th, please come and make yourselves known, have a chat. Advice and conversation is free! Mel, Plenty to talk about with life on the Reds. I was the Engineering controller (fat controller) and was one of the circus who flew constantly with the team. Hell of an experience but damned hard work and unbelievable pressure and stress. I am at a Red Arrows reunion this saturday in Lincoln, lots of tall stories and even more tall foaming glasses of beer; not forgetting a thick head on Sunday. I guess windows and sunroof open on the way home Sunday afternoon. Regards Gavin

Gavin kindley took me out under his wing, (excuse the pun Gav[;)]) for my first time at Cadwell and I can vouch that he certainly knows his way around the place..... Btw Gav I was talking to Juliete at E25 the other day and the next launch day is for the new Mclaren some time next year, ive got my name down[:)] g

Superb day today, Thanks Steve and Richard. Met some really great members, saw some beautiful cars and enjoyed seeing a lot of smiling faces. Great stuff, PCGB please come back to Cadwell sooner than the last time; it has such a good club atmosphere. I may even be able to offer free accomodation for long distance travellers.

For those that did the Cadwell park day it was super! I decided at the last minute to do the day on the track & loved every minute. Only had to move over a few times as the GT3s whistled round! Thank you to the organising team from head office well done. Richard - RO R4 our local track!

In agreement with all the above comments. It was a great day with a wonderful atmosphere and we made even more Porsche friends. Behaviour by everyone on the track was exemplary making for a really fun day. Kerry had a lesson with Gavin who knew every inch of the track and was an excellent instructor. She would highly recommend him for future days at Cadwell Thanks to Steve and Richard too Cheers Tom and Kerry R8
