CALIPER ADAPTORS

Just fitted big blacks on my 86 turbo using the caliper adaptors.
The adaptors are from lindsey racing.

Just want to know if I have put the adaptors on the right way round as the pads are a little proud of the discs.

Dose the curve on the adaptor mirror the curve on the caliper or go the same way?

Any advice would be great.

Pics would be useful here [&:]

When I have seen them before, I think the curve in the adaptor is supposed to be up against the hub of the brake disk, i.e the inside curve in the adpator mirrors the outside curve of the hub. IMHO the brake pad should be slightly inboard of the disk so that it leaves a tiny lip as it wears down the disk

Thats how Lindsay manufacture them. I've got their caliper adaptors also and the edge of the pad is very slightly proud of the rim of the disc. I rang lindsey up about it as I was worried about the pad wearing unevenly across it's width into a sort of wedge shape and creating a thrust force pushing the pad out of the caliper, but Lindsey say that they manufacture them like that on puprpose to eliminate the sharpe edge that forms on the disc rim as the pad wears into the disc.

So to answer your question there is nothing wrong as such with your kit - it is as the manufacturer intended. However I'm not convinced and intend at sometime to have a couple of mm milled off the adaptor to reduce the mounting radius of the calipers.

So far everything seems to be fine and the pad is wearing OK so i'm not immediately concerned.

Thanks Scott. Did try to phone Lindsey but no ones home.

Also they sent the wrong ss hoses, so am waiting for the right ones. Is it worth using cheap brake fluid so I can get the car back on the road and MOT. Then changing the fluid when the hoses arrive. Or just waiting for the hoses and using just one type of fluid?

They also sent me the wrong pads. I couldn't be bothered to go to the hassle or expense of sending them back so I have a spare set of rear pads.

I'd just use cheap fluid for now and put the good stuff in when you install the new lines - so long as you're not planning any track days or anything in between!
