After having the tracking done on my car the mechanic noticed one of the front calipers was leaking brake fluid,he said the bleed nipple was dry so suggested it maybe the seals, the calipers are reconditioned items fitted about 3-4 years ago although the car doesnt get much use so could be the seals have perished,he also noticed one side of the rear was lower the the other and suggested one of the rear shocks was weak.
Where is the cheapest place to get the front caliper seals and rear shocks ?
Thanks

Not sure where is the cheapest but for quality parts at a better price I would get them from Bert Gear of Berlyn Services. If he doesn't have them then get them from the main dealer. I don't bother with so called specialists and their junk...

I paid about 100quid for 2 new bilstein sports on the rear from pelicanparts in the states, and I have noticed an exchange dealer for calipers in the pp for about 50...

With regards to the calipers, its a really simple DIY job. I did all four a couple of years ago for about £7 a corner plus a complete brake fluid change at around £20.

Give it a go, it makes driving the car even more enjoyable!

Our calipers are ATE if that helps you, just in case you don't go to the main dealer.

You could remove both shocks and see if that has any effect on the ride height. This would prove whether it is the shocks at fault or not.

I don't mean to be rude but does your mechanic know how to do the cornerweights?

I let one of those companies loose on my van once after I fitted a new steering rack. As soon as I drove it I knew it was wrong, in fact it was worse than before I took it as I set it up roughly with some scaffold tubes.

If you can't do it yourself it sounds like you need to take your car to an early Porsche specialist. The main dealer here was going to take my car to BMW. Of course they didn't tell me this until I reminded them that the car does not leave my sight...

I've never taken my car to the main dealer since. Well, only to buy parts [:D]
