CALLING LONDON REGION

To all,

You may not be aware of this news yet , but I am leaving the post of London RO. Needless to say this great Region needs some one or better still a few organisers to move it forward.

I thought I would give you a typical week/month of running London, in order you can think through my request, as follows;

  • Usually between 2 and 20 emails to attend to from members, mainly about dealers, members cars, what to buy etc. I love working on these, it is a really good part of the 'job' so to speak.
  • Speak with Club office about members changing to London Region, members who have contacted Club office direct etc
  • Usually between 10 and 25 calls per week, again very much like the emails, also about the next meeting etc.
  • depending on the time of year, the winter months you will find yourself trying to talk to venues etc about events you want to organise, also make appointments to go and see event co ordinators of these venues.
  • One afternoon/ evening per month devote to writing the PP article.
  • Spend time looking for new venues to meet up at.
  • Get involved in the Seminars and National Events the Club organise.
  • Depending on what and how many events are run, count at least 4 weeks before the event organising it (not full time ofcourse!).
  • Talk to members as much as possible to find out what they would like from their membership and region.
  • Have a good partner to assist you!!!
These are not exhaustive and it is what you make of it! My feeling is that there are I am sure a few of you out there who could share the load, think to where you live aswell as if you live north you could organise North London meets, South, South London etc. Then when London has an event there are 3/4 to organise it. Easy!!!

Give me some feed back please, and who dares wins, go on put your name in the hat!!

Thanks for listening, and contra to what you may have heard it is good fun!!!

Johannes

Hi Johannes

Firstly, thanks for the effort you put in when it looked like London was going to disappear from the map. Secondly, sounds like there is lots of positive things about the post, why are you leaving after such a short time - what are the down sides?

Hope to see you around. Regards

Johannes and the London region,

I'd be up to help take on some of the effort requested/required for part of the London region. A large part of my time is spent on perusing all things "Porsche" besides work, and I generally make the effort to support the club/marque at various events - both locally and nationally - in addition to a variety of other motorsport/motoring events as part of my general interest/hobby.

I'll be moving out of central London to Isleworth in June, so although I will not strictly be in London, it's still what I would consider "West London" - or certainly extremely accessible to anything on the western side of London from the SW to NW via the A406/A40/A4 corridors. Sorting out the geography of London has generally been a challenge due to size/congestion/practicality. Without being separatist towards our East London membership, can I recommend setting up a West London Region (WLR)? Besides, I suspect it's easier for the East Londoners to meet with either the Herts/Essex regions or the Kent/SE regions depending on whether they are north/south of the Dartford tunnel... someone can correct me if I am mistaken.

Feel free to drop me a line on either my mobile (07799-645510) or via PM/email if anyone wants to share ideas/thoughts/concerns/support. As I said in another post, there must be more Porsches per square mile in London than anywhere else in the UK.... it would be great to see these people more involved by coming together at either regular events/drives/dinners/parties/whatever whilst sharing a common enjoyment of the marque.

Cheers,
Adrien

Hi Johannes,
Hope you are just passing on the London RO position and not physically leaving London so hopefully we will still be seeing you and your fleet of Porsches at Ace Cafe...

Anyway, would love to help as part of a team rather than an individual but I'm in Isleworth too (Adrien, welcome to the home of Porsche; the first Porsche was sold in the UK in Isleworth by AFN in 1954)...

Hey Kish - I totally forgot you were in Isleworth! Sounds like we're going to be new neighbours... Good to know that the neighbourhood has the history of being a good Porsche fraternity. [:)] Perhaps the history is well known with my insurers: my insurance is getting cut by a third!

Dont forget, I am in Brentford, just up the road from Isleworth, so West London rocks!

So why, oh, why has the AFN name been dropped? I thought Porsche has/had a sense of history......[]

AFAIC, it's still AFN Reading/Guilford/Isleworth..............

Johannes -pls return voice mail and text!!

Hi All

London region and the early 911 group still meet at the Dysart Arms on the Petersham Road in Richmond on the second wednesday of the month. This week there were about 20 people, and now that the lighter evenings are at last with us, the car park should fill up with some interesting cars.
The beer is good, some of the food is a bit expensive(but very good) and plenty of safe parking.

Come on down and give it a try.

Have fun

Paul Kelley

...and I'm in Richmond.....as Mr Kelley's legal eagle Wife knows all too well........

Not too many fake Coppers in West London Adrien !
