cam noise on 996

My 1998 996 C4 once warm emits on tickover an annoying tappet noise. I guess it is one of the cam followers which I guess is either worn or not doing its job correctly. When the engine is cold it is not there - this I put down to the oil pressure being far higher at that point. (Reads 5 on scale when cold then 2 when hot). Also when hot if I leave it idling for about five mins the noise then dissappears. My question is - do I leave it, is it a common problem, can it be looked at with engine in car or should I take it to the OPC or specialist and pray!
Any help welcome! I have only just bought the car and it has had the cams done 25k miles ago - at least that is what the bill said. It now has 120k mile son the clock although it has been all motorway driving.

Grant, can't help you with the noise (although all 996's are a bit "tappety" on tickover) BUT just wanted say what great taste in first names you have !! Me thinks an OPC visit is order, best to get it checked over just in case it leads to something expensive !

Hi - Yes when reading posts I have to remember when they refer to Grant they don't mean me!
The engine stopsthe tappet noise when I put it into drive or reverse and just hold it on the brake. I have read that differing oil types can casue noise like this - i.e the hyrdaulic tappets not filling with oil quick enough. But I take you point and think a visit to the OPC is in order.
Thanks
