Cam Tower Oil Gallery Question ?

hi guys , just building my top end back up and just about to put on my cam tower on and was cleaning out the old oil from inside , and checking all oil passeges were clear ,.when i saw something in one of the main feeds/valleys ( pic below )

now i tried to pick it out with a bit of wire after trying to suck it out with a hoover and blowing it out with the compressed air , but my question is:
• if i fill it with rubbing alcohol, should it drip down into the main cam section? as i tried this on both sides and niether of them allowed the fluid to drain down??

• is there some kind of check valve in there not allowing this ? ( i can’t see this as you couldn’t physically get to it but needed some info before i build it back up) ......just seemed odd to me as i would have expected it to fall down the bottom half , and when i blow air through it doesn’t seem to come out the bottoms iether on iether side ??

i thought about building it back up and i’ll soon find out by opening the cam plugs to see if it’s full of oil , but that wouldn’t really be the clever thing to do.

hope one of you guys can shed some light here as i won’t be installing it unless i know that this isn’t blocked.

Hi Dan

IIRC this is a check valve to stop the oil from draining too quickly from the upper part of the engine. Alas, I don't know how quickly/slowly the valve is supposed to allow oil through? Perhaps someone else has the details?

hi Pete,
i was hoping so , but seems odd as can’t see how you could put in there, but it would make sence , especially if it’s from the top filling up then releasing preasure back down? ... as blowing up through this hole seems to be blocked so would make sence if the check valve is closed going upwards and releases the opersite way from top to the bottom to relieve oil preasure.

didn’t want to risk putting it on and causing a oil starvation situation or over preasure ?

I've read that the turbo and n/a check valves are different. So people that use 2.7 heads to build 3.0 engines may have changed that valve.
 
The check valves are indeed different from Turbo to N/A (but not massively so) but they’re in the head not the Cam tower.
