My '84 944 is going in to get its rear wheel bearings and cambelt done shortly. I've already bought rear wheel bearings. I've also got a cambelt and a recon waterpump (off of Ebay). What else do I need to take along: is it a balance belt, smooth roller and tensioner roller? Which of the following do I need (from the Eurocarparts site). Anywhere for better prices?

It all depends which water pump you have?

Early pumps have a cast lug on the front.

Later ones have a blanked off hole or it will look like there is a hose missing (used for turbos). This pump is an upgrade and the rear plastic casing will need some alteration for the s/steel guard that you will need along with different size roller.

Replace all four rollers and b/belt.

In regards to the above, look at Clark's garage site and study the chart for the correct rollers.

Just gone through this with my 86 Lux. It took 2 days longer than it should have done due to having to find a flywheel lock because the pulley would not come off ( 6ft. scaffolding pole on 2ft. stilsons on a long reach socket moved it after it broke my breaker bar!). Also snapped water pump bolts.

Me neither, but it looks like the early one (the pipe on the later ones comes out of the blanked off pipe I think). I think the reason it has a different number is because it is supplied as a recon part.

Have narrowed the bits I need to (I think):

Camshaft belt
Balance shaft belt
Tensioner stud (? see below)
Cam belt tensioner roller eccentric
Balance belt tensioner roller
Cam belt roller (? see below)

The two problems I have is where do you get a 106mm tensioner stud if you need it rather than the current 101mm one.
Secondly, do I need the 32mm cam belt roller for the old style water pump or the 46.2mm one for the new style with belt guard. What would the belt guard look like?
Thanks for your help BTW.
PS How did you get 4 rollers rather than 3?
