Cambelt & Servicing

New member
As a new 944 owner, my 1988 944 Lux has only done 74K mile and the cambelt was changed at 43K. When will it be due again? I have looked in the service book, but cannot find any details on the exact mileage. Also as living in the cotswolds (only 5 miles from HQ) can anyone suggest a garage for servicing?

Thanks in advance

36k or 3 years is a good rule of thumb (though factory is 48k/4 years). My guess is it's overdue as although it's only done 31k I bet it was done more than 3 (or even 4) years ago?

I'm due a timing belt change on my 2.7 going by the above. I've been going on mileage not years.
Had the last at 48k now on 88k but lots more than 4 years.
Anyone had one done recently? What's the going rate?

Theres a kit at porscheshop for £170 +VAT, both belts and rollers, might go the DIY route, just re-tensioning looks like a specialist tools is required (Clarks garage.com). Any experience?

Darren.

If you're belts are over 4 years old [] then NOW is the time to change them regardless of mileage. Depending on where you are you're looking at between £230 +vat at Hartech and £395 +vat at JZ Machtech (both of these will be cheaper if you're already having a service)
