Camber set-up - Belfast area.

Think i need the camber reset on my 968. The steering feels quite heavy, and the power steering pump seems to be ok. It can be a bit twitchy on B roads.
I know a previous owner had 18" wheels on it-so perhaps he got it set up for the bigger wheels.
Can someone please recommend someone to carry out a good job.

Thanks

Mark

Hi There is your power steering fluid level correct ? Is power steering belt tight? Dont forget tyre pressures but I am sure this is the first thing you have done. If you can see excessive wear on the inside of the front tyres and the tread blocks feathering then it could be that you may have excessive toe, if no feathering but wear then possibly excessive camber but quite rare . Another thing which would be really worth checking would be the steering universal joint which often seize especially on cars which have not been used much. There are plenty of people in the Belfast area perhaps ATS might be good as they do all of the OPCs work just make sure you ask for a full front end check not just a simple toe in out setup. I havent mentioned the rear alignment as this will not make the steering heavy. Make the effort to get your car setup properly as it will make all the difference. Cheers.

Hi George, thanks for the reply. This is the car that a guy from Newtonards brought up to you to look at before i bought it.
Yes, i have checked the tyre pressure (several times) and the power steering fluid level and the belt.
I was not aware of the universal steering joint issue. Must get it checked. Its not overly bad, but noticable on b-road and when driving slowly.

Thanks again for your advise - must take it down to ATS when all the salt is off the roads.

Thanks

Mark
