Camera detector

Got flashed on Saturday. Praying it was out of film. But it made me realise that a camera detector really would be a great investment. Had a look in Halfords but wasn't really sure what to get. Anyone got any recommendations?

I bought a Snooper S1 a few months ago, only used it a few times. Around town its not too clever as it picks up all sorts of other radar signals from traffic lights (not just camera's but the sensors that detect if a car is approaching), supermarket doors etc. i switched it off when I was around town and knew the roads.

I upgraded to a Neo 4 (looked on ebay £100 cheaper than Halfords) a week ago. No false alarms etc. It has GPS built in a knows where the cameras are and alert you to camera's - even around corners. Also picks up lasar (as the S1) and TRUVELO (?) etc that measure your speed from two know points (ie bridges where the camera PHOTOGRAPHS your plate and DOESNT use radar/lasr so are undetectable).

I got it thru Radar Girl and they delivered it within a few days (failed on next day delivery as they forgot to process my order).

Only problem with GPS devices is that you need to update them over the internet/modem and a subscription normally costs a fair few £££.

Good luck,

Rob

Tim,

I've got a road angel, and it's probably saved my liscence at least twice.
Mind you, it's because I got banned for doing 102 mph on the M20, that I
bought it in the first place, and thing ironic thing is, it would have detected that
area as a police hot spot and save me a 1 month ban !!!
But we learn by our mistakes dont we ??

Anyway, simple to use, and updating quite straight forward aswell. I think it's
a bit more expensive than most, but put a value on keeping your liscence !!!!

I have a Road Angel.

Not sure if it's the best, but it is very useful and easy to use.

The best feature is the accuracy of the GPS speed reading. It shows just how inaccurate most car speedos are. Most over-read by quite a big margin, which is probably a good thing.
