Some of you regular forum readers know that I went to CAMP 4 for the first time last year (see Porsche Post April 07) and I was lucky enough to attend CAMP 4 S lin northern Finalnd ast week. I thought CAMP 4 ws brilliant but 4S is at least 5 times better. Totally orgasmic.
CAMP 4 S is 3 days of intensive driving where you are stretched to your personal limits. I loved every second of it. 4S builds on the skills you learnt last time and you drive harder and faster than you thought possible on snow and ice. I learnt a huge amount about car control in extreme conditions. I havnt had time to sort all my pictures but what follows should give you a good idea of what it is like. If I can get the time I will do another article for the Post as there is a lot to tell. For example Porsche have now introduced a new driving programme called ICE FORCE where you get to play in a 997 Turbo fitted with studded tyres on a man made ice lake. I had a ride in one of these cars as a taster and I am still grinning. More to follow:

Things dont always turn out as you planned (the definition of understeer is that you can see what you are about to hit):

I hope you have enjoyed this glimpse of CAMP 4 S. I can not recommend it highly enough. Do it.

Wow!! Great pics...I want to do that!

How often is it run, how do I book and how many pennies does it cost?

CAMP4/ CAMP4S is held during January and February each year. This year was the 10th year it has been run. Including flights from the UK cost was just over 4,000 Euros but that includes everyting for 5 days (a day travelling each way and 3 days driving) including flights, transfers, car, fuel, booze, food, snowmobiles, insurance etc. I literally spent nothing whilst I was there. Bookings are done through the Porsche Travel Club in Germany. E MAIL: travel.club@porsche.de or Phone: ++49 (0) 711 911 78156

Wonderful photography - positively inspirational!!
Pity about the current pound / euro exchange rate.

Superb photo's. What kit do you use? You must have a great lens. I love the "icicles on the hut" and "car through the trees" 2 frames later.

Pictures were taken with a Nikon D80 fitted with a 80 - 200 lens with vibration reduction on as light is poor up there. Difficult to get good photos as either clear and very cold or warmer and snowing. Either way you cant stand around waiting for the shot so its a bit of pot luck really. Also you want to concentrate on the driving.

There is a good video of CAMP 4 S which was taken last year at www.4wheelsblog.com/strange/porsche-camp-4s

The picture on the front of this months Porsche Post was taken at CAMP 4 in Finland last year.

I have done another article for the Post on CAMP 4 S and hope it will get publised in the next month or so if not I will post it here

A few more pics just for the joy of it

Just the sort of weather the UK news and weather people say "don't leave home unless absolutely necessary"! Fabulous article and it certainly looks like a fun vacation. I presume you're always driving their cars, not your own?
