CAMP 4

Are there any other 997 memebrs going to CAMP 4 this year? I am happy to do a write up if I get back in one piece. I have heard nothing but good reviews so hope it lives up to expectations

Bob, we did this a few years ago and it was a great trip. The driving experience and training were excellent. Combine this with learning how to drive a husky sled and snowmobiles through forest tracks and over the frozen lakes at night and you'll have a brilliant time. Temp dropped to - 35c when we were there, so take your thermals!

Camp 4 is now fully booked for this winter.

I'm doing the Precision Winter Training at the Tweng Circuit near Obertauern in Austria this February. 2wd Porsches and, hopefully, not quite so cold.

Sorry seem to be having technical problems. It says file uploded succesfully but not shown in posting?

PS whys the bonnet open[;)] (post 7)

All looks good fun Bob...do we have to wait for the write up or can you share a few details here about the event ie format, duration, fun factor etc, oh and cost too!....and why do all the Porkers appear to have their sunroofs open?...I mean it doesnt exactly appear to be roasting out there

Guys
The sun roofs are open because engines left running all day with heater on. This means the temperature diffference between inside (20C)and outside of car(-25C) is typically 45 degrees C. If you leave the sunroof open you dont get condensation in the car which the air con compressor can not remove at -25C.

Apologies for poor pictures. I am trying to find out how to include several pictures in one thread as other members have done

Whole trip takes 5 days with three solid days driving (8am to 4pm) 6 stages per day including one in a Cayenne. Location just inside Artic Circle. At peak 80 (yes 80) 911's are used all C4 or C4S current models. Stages get longer and faster as the course goes on. Fun factor is off the scale. I have never taken part in a drifting contest on a snow bowl before or done a 360 in a 911 or had the car constantly sideways at speed or switched off the PSM on snow and ice at speed. Huge, huge fun. In the evenings it was snowmobiles (ice racing and cross country (did 40km into the forest)) Kart racing, Quad bikes(racing and cross country) and hot laps with instructors in cars (Caymans and Cayennes) with studded tyres. Non stop action from 8 to 11. Very well organised. Food very good. Porsche videos available in your room. Good company. Deal was all inclusive including flights, hotel, cars, instruction etc. Cost approx £2,750 depending on exchange rate. I only spend 20 euros whilst there so genuinely inclusive including evening beer wine with meals etc. Once you have done CAMP 4 you can apply for 4S which is longer faster and more advanaced. CAMP 4 can handle all skill levels. My group had Carrera Cup winner, Formula Ford winner right down to novice. I was in bottom half of ability but no problem at all. You learn huge amount about how to handle the car and light up that PSM warning light constantly!! Artic Driving Centre is a beautiful location but dark most of the day (3 hours daylight) and seriously cold. CAMP 4 is on for 8 weeks but UK only has 10 places on 4 and 20 on 4S

Once I get the technology sorted I will post more pictures

Wow that sounds a really cool ( no pun intended! ) thing to do... I will have to look into it further indeed
thanks for the info and thanks for the pics, I have a red C4S, so that beuatiful pic of the rear of the C4S with some ice & snow on & lots of other porkers lined up either side has become my wallpaper...superb pic
