Haven't heard of this one before, but there is an excellent guide to replacing the camshafts in the garage shop manual at www.clarks-garage.com I'm sure you could use that procedure to replace just the bearings.

What makes you think its the bearings?

Rick,
I got my S2 back from Motor Preperation, they done a fantasic job on my wing. Spent all weekend polishing the rest of the car to shine.
Thanks for the contact[:)]

Hi Paul

Thanks for the advice. Basically, the noise is coming from a bearing housing located between the distributor and cam cover. I have already replaced both tensioners and idlers and held the water pump while the engine is running- and the whine is still their.

Rick is referring to the forums at www.rennlist.com

This is a massive US based site and has been around much longer than we have. Anything really technical is always worth searching on there as the US owners are very in to DIY engine rebuilds etc

Do asearch in the extensive 944 sections, we'll see you back here in around a few weeks [:D][:D][:D]
