Hi
i have a flat battery on my boxster, not started for a week my fault, but can’t get in with key because the window is not dropping so catching on roof, how strong are the windows as don’t want to smash it opening the door

Try holding the key in the unlock position for a few seconds. The windows may open, depending on the coding of the alarm control unit.

You don't say which generation of Boxster but your pic looks like a 986? If so, I had this once on my 986 and with some considerable effort was able to lift the hood away from around the top of the window and free the door.

986 I have had this and the door will open without the glass dropping. It’s just the rubber seal stopping it.

you have to do this to pop the bonnet to get at the battery or you can find the manuAl bonnet release cable behind the left wheel arch and manually release the bonnet.

if you open the door you can also jump the batter from the special point in the fuse board.

good luck

had this for another reason a few times - winter ice actually - stopping the window dropping - a good tug on the handle will open it without breaking anything. I used some luke-warm water on the top of the window to loosen the ice there - but the window still wouldn't drop and it still opened ok.

once the door is open you can hook up a charger to the charge point in the drivers footwell behind the panel and get your battery up to strength again and it'll be fine after a while on the charger.
