Hello,
I am looking to buy a 1982 SC Targa which is located in Dunstable, Beds. The trouble is I'm north of Edinburgh.
The car belonged to my Uncle when it was brand new (some 24 years ago) and I know quite a lot about the car's life.
I am desperate to buy it, but for once I do need to exercise some caution and restraint (previous experience with a 944 "Financial Black Hole" has taught me this).
Are any of you guys in the Dunstable vacinity, and would be prepared to view the car for me with a view to providing an unbiased general report on it's condition? The guy selling the car seems very genuine to me and honest in his description but I would like an impartial pair of eyes to view it from an enthusiasts point of view rather than an inspection.
I know the gearbox is shot and the general condition of the car is described as "fair" and I think the service history is "patchy" at best. All the signs are telling me NO NO NO NO but the car has some special significance to me.
However what I don't want to do is buy it unseen and arrange transport only for my new nightmare to turn up.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated. I will gladly cover expenses and your time.
Thanks in advance,
Derek Blair
