Can anyone help with a Stereo Problem?

I have the 10 speaker upgrade on my 993 with amp behind the dash. I purchased the car with no head unit in it.

I just went to a place to get a head unit fitted and he says he will have to disconnect the amp and power it all seperately from the head unit. Another chap said it will need a newer type amp. The previous owner had a new alpine unit running it fine, I have taken out the wires to show how the last owner had it fitted up.

My question is, is there any type of modern CD unit that will just hook up easily and run everything perfect again or should I look for an original CD player out of a Porsche (if so what model).

Does the amp really need disconecting, it was an expensive upgrade when the car was new and I suspect sounds just fine.

If I purchased a modern Porsche Becker unit would it just plug in?

I have attached a pic, unsure how it will look but if anyone could explain the wires for me so i could do a DIY job I would be very grateful.

Thanks, David.

David,

I had the hi-fi upgrade on my last car and although it was an expensive option it is by todays standard rubbish. The chances are that the amp in your head unit will be more powerful!

The one thing to do, if you decide to keep the amp is get rid of the speakers as they are useless.
